P1020375 - Version 3

I’m Amelia, aka Plant-Powered Nomad.

I’ve been travelling alone since I was about 15, and backpacking alone since I was 18 and decided going to Colombia was a great idea. I started travelling to overcome my introversion. At the age of 11, I was so incapable of talking and leaving the house that I dropped out of school. By the age of 15, I still couldn’t make phone calls or buy things in shops. Now I travel solo around the world, challenging myself every day to become more confident and deal with situations I thought I would never be able to cope with.

In 2014, 4 days after graduating university and after a bad break-up that prompted me to run for the hills to reclaim a sense of self, I moved to Taiwan. I started my job as an English teacher a day later. This was an incredible, challenging, and rewarding experience. It also made me certain I don’t want to work so much on something I’m not 100% invested in.

I’m also vegan, and have been since 2012. It started as a week trying to detox my body from the toxic lifestyle I was living, and turned into a lifelong commitment and something I’m utterly passionate about. It improved my fatigue, migraines, chronic pain and depression an unbelievable amount, and while it’s not been a miracle cure by any means, I can say with total certainty I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it weren’t for a vegan lifestyle.

I left Taiwan in August 2015 to go to Japan, and then on to Thailand to train as a yoga teacher. And so the life as a nomad, yoga teaching, travel-writing, general life-enthusiast begins.
